Andre Romelle Young, known famously as Dr. Dre, is struggling in a divorce battle with his soon-to-be ex-wife, Nicole young. The war started due to Young proclaiming she co-owns the trademark to the Dr. Dre name. She also states she owns most of Dr. Dre’s album, “The Chronic.”

From the legal documents filed in Los Angeles, Young charged her husband to transfer the trademarks to another party, most likely a holding company, earlier this year after a domestic dispute within the household, leading to Young being asked aggressively to move out. Bryan Freedman, Young’s attorney, insists that Dre was transferred the trademarks to a holding company that Dre himself founded to dominate the holdings after he evicted Young from their home. This was said to happen before Dre filed for divorce.
Trademarks Divided
Nicole Young filed for divorce two days later from the threats she received from Dr. Dre. The couple has been married for over 20 years with two children that have already grown up. The divorce papers reveal that Dre transferred the trademarks without Young’s acknowledgment.
Young declared that Dre threatened her to leave their home in April and set out to settle their assets and bereave Young of them. The trademarks were executed and filed when they got married, which makes the trademarks the community’s property under California law. But Dre claims he is the sole owner of said trademarks, which Young insists Dre to at least put the trademarks in a trust. In the end, Young is suing her husband for legal fees and damages.
