Trademarks Divided

Nicole Young filed for divorce two days later from the threats she received from Dr. Dre. The couple has been married for over 20 years with two children that have already grown up. The divorce papers reveal that Dre transferred the trademarks without Young’s acknowledgment.

Young declared that Dre threatened her to leave their home in April and set out to settle their assets and bereave Young of them. The trademarks were executed and filed when they got married, which makes the trademarks the community’s property under California law. But Dre claims he is the sole owner of said trademarks, which Young insists Dre to at least put the trademarks in a trust. In the end, Young is suing her husband for legal fees and damages.

Divorce Battle

According to Dr. Dre’s lawyers, Nicole Young is accused of siphoning Record One recording studio’s business account. The company was founded by Dr. Dre and Larry Chatman in 2015. Young appeared as the trustee and signatory for the business’s checking account. Dre’s team of attorneys claim that Young “exhausted” the company’s account in August 2020.

The attorneys have proof of a check Young wrote to herself for $353,571.85, which has lead Dre’s legal team to accuse Young of “blatant and unjustifiable criminal embezzlement of corporate funds,” accusing her of breach of fiduciary duties. Dre and Chatman are demanding Young to return the money by October 29, 2020, or they will take legal action for it.

On the other hand, Nicole Young’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, calls the allegations Dr. Dre has committed BS to defame Young. Freedman claims that Young had the legal right to take action on the money and Dre’s team knows it also. Young’s attorney called the moves conducted by Dre’s team of attorneys a distraction to the public, when in fact that Dre was the one transferring community property to try and deprive Young of any of the funds she is due.
