Before announcing the purchase of the behemoth apartment, the West residence threw a large Christmas party at their house. Not your typical party, but one that costs $1.3 million. The party had a Winter Wonderland theme, with ice sculptures, sledding, and snowmobiles.
Right smack in the middle of the party, Kanye West announced to his friends and family that he purchased the 7-figure apartment for Kim Kardashian.

According to Page Six, the Kardashian-West couple was looking into buying an 18-story Faena House beachfront by Miami Beach. However, it was later confirmed that Kardashian wasn’t in on it. Kanye West went on his own to scout and purchase the mega-apartment in Miami in December, planning it as a secret Christmas gift for Kim. How West was able to sneak into looking for the housing was during the Art Basel in December without Kim knowing anything.
After the announcement of the 7-figure apartment gift to Kim Kardashian, the couple went to sign the contract. The deal was official and closed in January.
